Funds are appropriated annually by the Federal Government and disbursed through national gateways to States, Local Government and Primary Health Care facilities.

Each gateway manages funds based on approved guidelines in the BHCPF 2.0 and performance benchmarks in line with NHSR II and SWAp principles.

The Basic Health Care Provision Fund (BHCPF) was established under the National Health Act of 2014 to provide a dedicated and sustainable source of financing for primary health care in Nigeria.
