About the Basic Health Care Provision Fund (BHCPF)
The Basic Health Care Provision Fund (BHCPF) was established by the National Health Act (2014) to provide a dedicated and sustainable source of financing for Primary Health Care (PHC) in Nigeria.
BHCPF aims to:
- Improve access to essential health services
- Reduce out-of-pocket health expenditure
- Strengthen PHC systems
- Support Universal Health Coverage (UHC)
- Drive health sector reforms under NHSR II
- Harmonize health financing under SWAp
The BHCPF supports the delivery of the Basic Minimum Package of Health Services (BMPHS) at Primary Health Care facilities nationwide.
